The Care Quality Commission (CQC) is an executive non-departmental public body of the Department of Health and Social Care of the United Kingdom. They are the independent regulator of all Health and Social Care Services in England. The CQC monitors, inspects, and regulates services to make sure they meet fundamental standards of quality and safety and publishes their findings, including performance ratings to help people choose care.
The CQC sets out what ‘Inadequate’, ‘Good’ and ‘Outstanding’ care looks like. They conduct a range of inspections and visits in addition to their regular regulation and inspection programmes. Where they find poor care, they will use their powers to take action. They use information and evidence throughout their work, including people’s views and experiences of care, they work closely with the public, other organisations, and local groups cohesively. You can contact the CQC and provide them with information about the care you are receiving or have received, this helps them to decide when, where and what to inspect, to improve the standards of care for our Service Users.
The CQC phone lines are open Monday to Friday 8.30am – 5.30pm, excluding bank holidays.
